DESPITE claims by many politicians over the years that Fáilte Ireland has abandoned and forgotten about Laois, a new survey just released puts the O’Moore county high in visitor destinations.
The midlands is full of astonishing landscapes, as well as popular historical sights. According to the Maldron Hotel, Portlaoise, who carried out the survey, it says that Laois is “one of the top destinations in Ireland and also perfect for holiday breaks.”
In this age of technology, many people like to share their adventures and their experiences on Instagram every day.
It was with this in mind that the Maldron Hotel undertook to find out ‘what are the most Instagrammed spots in the midlands?’
In order to come up with the results, the hotel had to carry out in-depth research.
It analysed the most popular locations in the midlands using over 30,000 hashtags to see which spots in Laois, Offaly, Longford and Westmeath are posted most on Instagram by locals and tourists.
It found that among the most visited tourist attractions in the midlands are Emo Court, the Rock of Dunamase and the Slieve Bloom mountains in the top ten.
