THEY say charity begins at home and the generous Ballyfin Vintage and Vereran Club certainly lived up to that motto, as they presented funding to a variety of worthy causes.

At a lively annual cabaret night in the Deadman’s Inn, the club presented much-needed funds to local groups ranging from Ballyfin Community Alert and Midland Down Syndrome to the Ben & Jake Foundation, the Knowles family, Ballyfin Parish and the Ballyfin senior citizens’ Christmas party.

The memorable event on Saturday 17 November featured great music, raffle prizes, delicious food and, above all, fantastic company.

The funding totalling €2,600 was raised from a variety of events organised by busy club volunteers, who are already preparing for 2019 fundraisers that will begin with the annual table quiz early in the New Year.

On behalf of the club, chairperson Pat O’Connor extended heartfelt thanks to the local community and businesses for their constant support and encouragement. More information on the club and upcoming events is available from Pat on 087 7824481.
