THE Happy Snappers Camera Club held their 2018 exhibition in The Fisherman’s Thatched Inn between 19-21 November.
The exhibition included almost 200 photographs by club members and also showcased the clubs entries to the annual MPG (Midlands Photography Group) competition.
The exhibition was a huge success with large crowds turning out to view the talent on display.
This was the night on which the club presented prizes for 1st place in the Judge’s Choice and People’s Choice categories. Independent judge Noel Buckley from Newbridge Camera Club adjudicated and selected his top five photographs including the winner in Judge’s Choice by Bernie Delaney.
Also, on the night, visitors were asked to vote for their favourite picture and the winner in People’s Choice category with Henry Ransome claiming the top prize.
The club would like to congratulate both winners and say a huge thank you to all who attended and participated.
According to the organisers, the atmosphere was jovial with guests enjoying the wonderful venue, exhibits and fun with the raffle and people’s choice ballot.
Happy Snappers are a group of amateur photographers who meet once a month at The Fisherman’s Thatched Inn, to learn, compare photos and chat about their shared hobby.
They are not experts by any means and seek to encourage, help and advance each other’s skills in a supportive way.
The summer meetings are usually field trips to local sites for practical exercises while the indoor meetings include workshops and guest speakers who bring much experience and ideas for members.
While based in Fisherstown the club’s members come from Laois, Offaly and Kildare to participate in their relaxed approach to increasing their photograph skills.
New members are always welcome. The annual fee is €20.
