DESPITE emergency road repairs undertaken at Cuddagh, Castletown, more work needs to be carried out there.

That’s according to cllr James Kelly, who called for an update on the works at a recent meeting of Borris-in-Ossory/Mountmellick Municipal District.

Area engineer Stan Cullen told the meeting: “This emergency work is complete and the road has now reopened.”

He said that as well as the resurfacing work, culverts had been placed along the road, “but there’s more to do on it”.

Cllr Kelly described the road “as probably the second or third worst road in the county. There are still issues there. Are the smaller drains to be cleaned out along there? There was a crash there recently. That famous hump has still not been removed”.
