MORE than 300 people of all ages turned out on New Year’s Day in Ballacolla to ring in 2019 and to take part in the Richard Moynan Memorial Walk and Vintage Run.

The organisers said that once again the annual event was a resounding success.

They wish to thank all who supported the event, particularly Glanbia, which facilitated the vintage parking, David Lalor for once again providing the cheer and refreshments at the halfway point of the walk, and Martin Delaney, who provided the sound system and to all the stewards and the catering crew at St Patrick’s Hall.

The day’s event raised €2,162, which will go to the Hawthorn Community Centre, Aghaboe Senior Citizens and local primary schools.

The raffle prizes were sponsored by Ashbrook Arms, Tom Moran, Coach O’Leary, Supermac’s, Hayes’s Bar, Manor Stone Garden Centre and Glanbia. Prize-winners were Declan Delaney, Lisa Lawless, Pat Fitzpatrick, Rosie Gee, Danny Kirwan, Mary Donohue and Belinda Gyves.
