A BRILLIANT past-pupil of Mountrath Community School has been presented with a scholarship at an awards ceremony in Dublin.

Aoife Langford achieved more than 550 points in the 2018 leaving certificate, winning a scholarship to study at Dublin City University (DCU).

Now a first-year student of physical education with biology at the college, Aoife was presented with a €500 academic scholarship and a commemorative certificate by DCU president Professor Brian MacCraith.

Aoife was joined by her delighted family and Mountrath CS principal Siobhán McCarthy at the presentation ceremony in The Helix. Ms McCarthy received a plaque to display in the school to mark the significant achievement of a former pupil. The school principal congratulated Aoife on her exceptional achievement and wished her every success in her studies.

The awards were presented to 128 students from throughout Ireland on achieving more than 550 points in the leaving certificate or equivalent, as well as meeting specific entry requirements and registering to study with any of DCU’s five faculties of engineering and computing, humanities and social sciences, science and health, institute of education, and DCU Business School.
