DESPITE no start date for the construction of 14 council houses in Errill, Laois County Council cathaoirleach John King nonetheless welcomed an “agreement in principle” by the government to provide €2,932,954 to fund the work.

The houses are earmarked to be built in St Kieran’s Park.

Cathaoirleach King said: “I am delighted that the green light has been given for this additional social housing development in Errill village.

The project is one of the biggest capital investments in Errill in recent years. This is a long-awaited programme for the enhancement of housing in the area.

This is really good news in addition to the housing development announced in December for Durrow village and a step in the right direction to deal with the housing waiting lists in Co Laois,” he said.
