CCFL Division 4

Celtic’s hat-trick hero Oran Murphy

Clonmore 2
Mountmellick Celtic 5

Clara Town 0
Mountmellick Celtic 4

MOUNTMELLICK Celtic hadn’t much time to celebrate their CCFL Division 4 Cup win as they were back in action within days of that success, with not just one game but two games in the space of four days.
Celtic had to travel for both games but it was worth their while as after claiming a win in both they won promotion from CCFL Division 4.
The first midweek tie was in Clonmore in a game that was in the balance at half time when the sides were tied on two goals apiece.
However, Celtic got a hold of the game in the second half and ran out 5-2 winners, the goals scored by Jamie Clover, Sean Hofmeister, Gary Hofmeister, Stephen O’Neill and Jordan Williamson.
Sunday’s meeting with Clara would be a top three battle and Celtic travelled with the bear minimum as injuries took hold after a gruelling week with three games away from home.
It was a tight game with nothing separating the teams at half time with the score locked at 0-0.
However, Celtic got an early break in the second half with Sean Hofmeister sticking away a Jamie Clover through ball. Then up stepped hat-trick hero Oran Murphy to put the game to bed and secure promotion to cap off am amazing seven days for Mountmellick Celtic.
