A TRACTOR is an ideal form of transport in a monsoon, so it was a perfect day for the popular vintage road run in Ballyfin.

There was no need for a rain check when dark clouds descended on the Ballyfin Vintage and Veterans’ Club ninth annual run on Sunday 23 June. Despite relentless downpours throughout the day, drivers and supporters cheerfully turned out for the event in an eye-catching variety of vintage tractors and cars.

The club was delighted with the turnout for the run on such an inclement day, which was a testament to the generosity of people who were willing to go the extra mile for charity.

The club was formed in 2010 and has been highly successful in fulfilling its vision of creating a community gathering for members. Since it began, the annual summer road run has raised nearly €30,000 for a range of local charities.

Club representative Pat O’Connor thanked everyone who made the 2019 run such a fantastic day, particularly the large number of local individuals, groups and businesses that so kindly sponsored the event.
