MEMBERS of Mountmellick Historical and Heritage Society had a busy few days during Heritage Week.

Among the activities they organised was an exhibition entitled Times Past, which was showcased in the local library.

Mark completed a project on his great grandfather for the exhibition.

Those who took part in A bog experience, led by local man Richard Fitzpatrick, got the opportunity to cut turf with a slean, load it onto a traditional barrow before stacking it for drying.

The society also held an evening of song with Bill Lawlor, who performed some of the songs he sang from his dancehall days, including his self-penned number Mountmellick.
