BABKA the Alpaca and a family of pygmy goats were among the VIP guests at a wonderful community fun day in Castletown.

It was literally a wild afternoon on the village green, as families met an assortment of exotic creatures and enjoyed a visit to the newly-added mini pet farm, which was a very popular addition to the much-loved annual event.

Beautiful Babka was one of the stars of the show and children particularly loved watching the visiting group of baby Pygmy goats playing on their slide. Young visitors also kindly made sure that all pet farm residents were well fed, as they brought along treats of carrots and apples for the well-behaved guests.

As always, the annual community fun day was a welcome chance to catch up with friends and neighbours on the last Sunday in August, with a fantastic range of entertainment that included the legendary tug of war, games, music and lots more.

A top-of-the-range bespoke luxury playhouse, which was designed and built by local craftsman Ian Quigley, was the magnificent top prize in the grand draw, ensuring strong ticket sales that will help a variety of local organisations. All proceeds that were raised by the community fun day and prize draw will go directly towards community projects.

The organisers thanked everyone who supported the event, which is an invaluable fundraiser and community gathering for the village and surrounding areas.
