A BALLYROAN-based councillor scored a home run at a recent municipal district meeting, when her three motions received positive responses from council officials.

The first issue addressed by cllr Mary Sweeney was for drainage works and water cuts to be opened at Raheenabrough Road in Ballyroan, where flooding and ponding are causing problems for locals.

Senior engineer Wes Wilkinson told her that water cuts would be opened within the coming weeks and that the council would liaise with landowners at Raheenabrough/Monteagle so that drainage works can be carried out early next year.

The second matter she looked for was for chevron road signs at the Rock Road to be replaced and for the debris be cleared on the road at this location. Mr Wilkinson said that the works would be carried out.

Finally, she asked that warning signs at Cashel adjacent to a bad bend on the R425 be replaced with new ones. “New warning signs will be ordered and installed,” replied Mr Wilkinson.
