Outgoing Minister for Justice and Equality Charlie Flanagan (FG) is expected to retain his seat in Laois-Offaly. However, he was taking nothing for granted when he arrived at the count centre in Portlaoise, just before announcement of the first count. The veteran FG TD got 7,463 first preferences, down from 8,370 in 2016.
