CHILDREN and their parents from 31 primary schools around Laois converged on Portlaoise College recently for its seventh annual STEM Experience Night.

Information leaflets had been distributed in advance to the primary schools and parents were invited to register their child for the free event through Laois Education Centre.

Participants and their parents were welcomed to Portlaoise College by school principal Noel Daly.

Finding out what STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) subjects may be of interest to them at the Portlaoise College 7th annual STEM Experience Night.

Each group was led through the various projects, demonstrations and subjects by prefects. The pupils then worked their way through interactive workshops hosted by teachers in science, maths and technology, which included teamwork and problem solving.

When the evening concluded, all of the pupils received a STEM resource pack with a certificate acknowledging their participation.
Portlaoise College would like to thank everyone involved in planning and preparing the event and the participants who engaged so well in each of the workshops.
