A FUNDRAISING appeal has been launched for volunteers at the beautiful Derryounce Lakes and Trails in Portarlington.
The upkeep of Derryounce is carried out by a dedicated team of volunteers, who often use their own equipment.
A gofundme page has been set up to help purchase some badly-needed equipment for volunteers who help maintain the idyllic nature haven, which attracts walkers, anglers, naturalists, photographers and people who want to experience its peace and tranquility.
Stephen Hudson and two friends set up the gofundme appeal with a €5,000 target and have already raised €1,600.
More donations would be greatly appreciated to help maintain the site, which is a valuable asset for the town and hinterland of Portarlington and gives local residents a wonderful amenity for walks and recreation. Donations can be made on the ‘Derryounce Lakes & Trails’ gofundme page.
The 355-acre haven is leased by Portarlington Community Development Association (PCDA) from Bord na Móna and Coillte.
