COMPLETE resurfacing of Court Square in Stradbally cannot be done this year, as it would cost €50,000.

However, minor surface repairs can be carried out in 2020 to fix sections that are in particularly poor condition.

That was the response given to cllr Paschal McEvoy at the latest meeting of Graiguecullen-Portarlington municipal district, when he called for resurfacing of the square. The Stradbally councillor said the road surface is in very poor condition and badly needs repair.

Senior engineer Philip McVeigh replied that the cost estimate to surface all of the Court Square area is €50,000, which is not available in this year’s budget.

The engineer said the project could be considered under the council’s 2021 roads programme, subject to funding. In the meantime, surface repairs can be carried out this year.
