KETAMINE worth €4,000 has been seized by gardaí during a planned search at a house in Laois.

One man was arrested following the drugs raid at a house in Graiguecullen on Thursday. He  was detained for questioning in connection with the find.

The quantity of ketamine was uncovered during a series of searches, as part of a planned garda operation targeting the sale and supply of drugs.

A property in the Graiguecullen area was searched under warrant and ketamine with an estimated street value of €4,000 was seized.

The series of searches was carried out by the Carlow District Detective and Drugs Unit, assisted by the Garda Dog Unit, Unit C Regular Unit and Carlow Community Policing Unit.

The man arrested in connection with the Graiguecullen seizure was brought to Carlow Garda Station for questioning under Section 2 of the Drugs Trafficking Act 1996, which allows detention for up to one week.

Heroin worth €8,000 was also uncovered in Carlow town during the same operation. Two men were arrested and detained for questioning under the same drugs legislation, in relation to the heroin seizure.
