THERE was another rise in Laois Covid-19 cases today but the increase was smaller than the previous three days.
The Department of Health did not specify the number of new cases in Laois this evening, which means that the number is between one and four.
This is lower than recent days, following an increase of five yesterday and six on both Thursday and Friday.
When it announces national figures every evening, the department does not indicate the exact number in a county when it is below five. The number in Laois today will be available tomorrow evening, when the nationwide county breakdown is updated. County figures are published a day later than national figures.
The Laois total currently stands at 413, which is the total number of coronavirus cases in the county since the pandemic begin.
Nationally, one death and 255 new cases were announced this evening, bringing the totals to
1,784 and 30,985 respectively.
Once again, the majority of new cases are in Dublin (156), with 22 in Waterford,13 in Donegal, 11 in Wicklow, 9 in Limerick, 8 in Kildare and 5 in Clare.
The remaining 31 cases are in Carlow, Cork, Galway, Kerry, Laois, Longford, Louth, Mayo, Meath, Offaly, Tipperary, Westmeath and Wexford.
Almost seven in ten (68% ) are under 45 years of age and 34% are associated with outbreaks or are close contacts of a confirmed case. A total of 69 cases have been identified as community transmission
