AN Abbeyleix man who allegedly stabbed another man in the arm last Monday has appeared at Portlaoise District Court.
The 60-year-old is charged with assault causing harm at a house in Abbeyleix on 14 September 2020.
In court yesterday, Garda Amy Duffy said the accused man was arrested and charged on Wednesday 16 September.
It was alleged that there were a number of incidents at the residence in Abbeyleix between 11.30am and 2pm on Monday. The accused man allegedly had a hurl at one point and assaulted a male, before he left the house.
He then returned with a knife but was subsequently disarmed. He returned to the house again later and allegedly stabbed a male in the left bicep.
Judge Catherine Staines refused jurisdiction in the case, due the seriousness of the charge. The case was adjourned to 19 November for the serving of a book of evidence.
The man was granted bail on his own bond of €100, with bail conditions attached.
