A STORY Stroll initiative for kids was recently launched by Mountmellick Library in the local playground.

Activities are based around ***Dee the Bee***, a book written by Mullingar author Dolores Keaveney, which explores the role of bees in cross-pollination.

Mums and dads can accompany their kids as they stroll around the playground while enjoying the story of Dee the Bee, which is mounted on display boards. After the walk, they can drop into Mountmellick Library to pick up a free biodiversity pack. Pack numbers are limited, so it’s important to get in early. Families can also share their Story Stroll photographs on the library’s Facebook page.

Story Stroll originated in Vermont, USA and is “a great way to bring the local library out to the community, especially given the current restrictions”, said Mountmellick librarian Edel Heffernan.
