These are the new floodlights in MW Hire O’Moore Park which will get their first airing tomorrow night for the Leinster U/21 hurling championship game between Laois and Carlow.

The conversion of the floodlights and stadium lighting to LED has been ongoing for the past couple of months at a cost of €360,000.

This was the second step in the €400,000 Green Stadium initiative which began back in July.

As part of this initiative wild flowers have been planted at MW Hire O’Moore Park and the LOETB Centre of Excellence, litter bins have been replaced and murals painted around the stadium.

The switch to LED could save Laois GAA as much as €25,000 in the cost of replacing the old bulbs and a further €12,000 per year in energy savings.
