FIVE new Covid-19 cases were confirmed in Laois today.
The county’s 14-day virus incidence is now 80.3 per 100,000 people, down from 83.8 yesterday. The national incidence is 113.3.
Laois comes 20th out of the 26 counties today in terms of Covid incidence, up slightly from 21st yesterday. The county was in 10th place last weekend.
There were 68 new Covid cases in Laois during the 14 days up to midnight last night.
Since the pandemic began, there have been 945 cases in Laois. The official county figure will rise to 950 tomorrow on the Covid Tracker App, when today’s cases are added.
Nationally, four deaths and 344 new cases were announced today. The death toll since the pandemic began is 2,022, while cases hve reached 70,143. The vast majority have recovered from the illness.
As of 2pm today, 269 Covid-19 patients are hospitalised, including 32 in ICU. There were 12 additional hospitalisations in the past 24 hours.
