LAOIS still has the second lowest rate of Covid-19 in Ireland.
For the second day in a row, Laois comes 25th out of the 26 counties in terms of virus incidence. Only Wexford has a lower rate.
This evening’s national figures show that Laois has a 14-day Covid incidence of 57.9. The national incidence is 108.7.
There were 49 new cases in Laois during the 14 days up to midnight last night.
The county had fewer than five new cases yesterday. The exact figure will be available tomorrow evening, when the county breakdown is updated.
Laois has had 951 confirmed Covid-19 cases since the pandemic began almost nine months ago.
Nationally, no deaths and 252 new cases were announced this evening. There have been 2,022 Covid-19 related deaths in Ireland and 70,711 confirmed cases since the outbreak of the pandemic. The vast majority of people have recovered.
As of 2pm today, there are 289 Covid patients in hospitals around the country, including 33 in ICU. There were 11 additional hospitalisations in the past 24 hours. As of 8pm last night, there were no suspected or confirmed cases at Portlaoise hospital.
