Graffiti daubed on a road in Ballinakill

VANDALISM in the scenic Ballinakill area over the weekend has annoyed and upset the local community.

Graffiti was daubed on one of the walkways and white paint was thrown over stone pillars at an entrance to a nearby field.

Posting pictures on its social media page, the Ballinakill Community Development Association said: “Words can’t describe our disbelief at seeing this vandalism on our beautiful walkways. Ballinakill takes great pride in its natural beauty and to see it defaced in this manner is exceptionally disappointing.”

They added: “The Hyland family and our local landowners have always facilitated our walkways and are working with the Development Association in mapping our looped walks. This vandalism affects the efforts of all parties and has no place in our community.”
