STRADBALLY is a town located in the midlands along the N80 road, about 12kms from Portlaoise. It is a townland, a civil parish and historic barony.
The historic Rock of Dunamase is only a stone’s throw from the centre of the town, on the Portlaoise Road.
It is also home to Stradbally Hall, an imposing house built in 1772. Stradbally Hall is the ancestral home of the Cosby family and is located on 550 acres of rolling woodland, streams and countryside surrounded by ancient oaks and chestnut trees. The estate is the venue for the international boutique music festival Electric Picnic, as well as the annual Stradbally steam rally. A number of high-profile equestrian events take place on the vast parklands throughout the year
According to the 2016 census, Stradbally has a population of 1,807.
