Laois County Council has arranged to collect, free of charge, up to two old mattresses from a number of housing estates in Portlaoise this Wednesday 15 September.

Residents who live in the Oakleaf Place, Parnell Crescent, Clonrooske View, Cherrygrove and Hillview Drive areas in Portlaoise who wish to avail of the free collection service are asked to phone 057 8674323 or 057 8674321 before 1pm on Tuesday 14 September to book a collection time.

Mattresses in these areas will be collected between 10am and 2.30pm on Wednesday.

Residents are asked to note that the collection team will not enter any household to collect mattresses in line with Covid-19 guidelines.

The project is part of the National Anti Dumping Initiative 2021 coordinated by Laois County Council and Waste Enforcement Regional Lead Authorities (WERLA) and Eastern Region.
