Following on from last week’s free collection of mattresses in a number of housing estates in Portlaoise, this week Laois County Council is offering a free collection service of bulk waste.
The free collection is again aimed at residents who live in the Oakleaf Place, Parnell Crescent, Clonrooske View, Cherrygrove and Hillview Drive areas of Portlaoise.
The collection will take place on Wednesday 22 September from 10am to 2.30pm.
Bulk waste being accepted include couches (one couch per household), armchairs, bed bases, table and chairs, household furniture.
Residents are advised that mattresses or bedding will not be collected.
Those living in these areas of Portlaoise and who wish to avail of the free collection service are asked to phone 05786 74323 or 05786 74327 before 1pm on Tuesday 21 September to book a collection time.
The collectors will not enter any household to carry out collections in line with Covid-19 guidelines.
The project is part of the National Anti Dumping Initiative 2021 coordinated by Laois County Council and Waste Enforcement Regional Lead Authorities (WERLA) and Eastern Region.
