THE proposed new Laois senior football management team will bring “a wealth of experience and skills to the county”, in the words of Laois GAA chairman Peter O’Neill.
His comments came after Billy Sheehan and his management team of Chris Conway, Beano McDonald and Gerry McGill were put forward by the Laois GAA Executive last night.
In a statement today, Mr O’Neill said: “Billy Sheehan and his management team proposed to the County Committee by Laois GAA Executive will bring a wealth of experience and skills to the county set up.
“As players, their dedication and commitment to the county jersey was second to none and I am sure that the present and future county players will benefit greatly from their experiences and knowledge.
“They will be working to rebuild our county’s fortunes and in line with that, will need time to develop a squad that will bring silverware back to Laois.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank Kieran Kehoe, Joe Cunningham, Greg Ramsbottom and Tom Byrne.
“They showed great diligence by working on the selection committee to bring this process forward.”
Sheehan and his team were initially recommended by the Laois GAA selection committee, before approval by the Executive at a meeting last night. The new management team is due to be formally ratified at the Laois County Committee meeting on Monday 18 October.
