‘The Hoverfly’ by Ann Francis is one of the stunning images in the 2022 Abbeyleix Bog calendar

A STUNNING 2022 calendar featuring vibrant images from nature has been launched by volunteers at the Abbeyleix Bog Project.

The calendar celebrates the rich natural history and amenity value of the local biodiversity ‘hot spot’, while also raising money for ongoing conservation and restoration work at the award-winning site.

This year’s calendar is the third produced by the project, with past editions selling out annually. Photo submissions were invited earlier this year from local and visiting photographers, who submitted a wide range of beautiful images for consideration. After a difficult selection process, 14 photos made the cut.

The calendar is available every Saturday morning at Abbeyleix Market right up to Christmas. Outlets stocking the calendar in Abbeyleix include Mueller & O’Connell Bakery, Abbeyleix Post Office (SuperValu) and Cleland’s.

The calendar can also be purchased at AllBooks and Bookmarks in Portlaoise and Centra Ballyroan, at €10 each or three for €25.

Abbeyleix Bog Project thanked all the photographers who make the production of the calendar possible and all its supporters, visitors and friends.
