Marian Hill in Portarlington

By Ryan Dunne

AN access ramp for elderly people is needed at Marian Hill in Portarlington, according to a local councillor.

Cllr Aidan Mullins has asked the county council either to replace the steps or install a ramp, alongside the steps at Marian Hill.

“You have to navigate a few steps and there have been some incidents there with the elderly,” he told the latest meeting of Graiguecullen/Portarlington Municipal District.

Senior engineer Philip McVeigh replied that the council is aware of the need for a ramp at this location.

He said the council is currently engaging with the contractor who installed the new footpath, in relation to the options for installing a ramp.
