THE robbery of two youths in Portlaoise is being investigated by gardaí.

Gardai attached to the Detective Branch in Portlaoise are investigating the robbery of two youths, in the Kilminchy area of the town.

The incident happened early yesterday morning, Friday 13 May.

As part of the investigation, a number of properties have been searched in the area and a man has been arrested on suspicion of robbery.

Gardaí said today that the suspect is currently detained at Portlaoise Garda Station, under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

Aged in his 30s, the man continues to be questioned this afternoon in relation to the robbery.
