Members of Ballyfin Vintage Club and friends at the cheque presentation to Laois Hospice

THE first Andy O’Connor memorial run raised an extraordinary €5,500 for an invaluable cause.

It was a very special and poignant occasion in Ballyfin at the weekend, when the O’Connor family presented the cheque to Laois Hospice.

The late Andy’s wife, Mary O’Connor, made the presentation to Laois Hospice assistant secretary Jennifer McKay and committee member Enda Thompson Phelan, at a gathering in the Deadman’s Inn on Saturday night, 14 May.

Also present in a show of support were members of Ballyfin Vintage Club, of which Andy was a much-valued and now much-missed active member.

More than 116 classic and vintage cars and tractors took part in the memorial run on 10 April, in a wonderful show of support that reflected the exceptional impact Andy had in his community. May he rest in peace.
