A case involving a woman who fell from a vehicle while a man allegedly attempted to take it was outlined at Portlaoise District Court recently.
The 31-year-old was charged with two counts of dangerous driving, unlawful interference with a vehicle, no insurance and no driving licence last May in Monasterevin. These charges are to be dealt with at district court level.
The man was also charged with seizing a vehicle by intimidation. Garda Sergeant JJ Kirby said that the DPP had directed that this charge be dealt with by way of trial by indictment at circuit court level.
The events are alleged to have taken place on 15 May last at the Co-op, Monasterevin, Co Kildare.
Judge Michèle Finan adjourned the case until 12 January, to allow time for a book of evidence to be compiled for a circuit court trial.
