The Government has allocated funds of €291,487 to help community and voluntary groups in Laois with increased energy costs.

The news has been welcomed by Sean Fleming, Minister of State in the Department of Finance.

Our community and voluntary organisations do great work in our towns and villages and it very important that we support. The Community Support Fund is available to support Parish Halls, Community Centres, Local Development Associations, Social Clubs, ICA Groups, Senior Citizen Groups, Men’s Sheds, Women’s Sheds and much more. This scheme will provide once-off support to assist these groups with rising energy costs.

“I encourage all eligible groups in County Laois to apply for funding urgently.

“The scheme will open for applications on Monday 21st November and close on Friday 2nd December 2022.  It is expected that payments under the scheme will commence before the end of this year and into early 2023.”

The Community and Voluntary Energy Support Scheme will provide once-off support to organisations, which fall outside the parameters of other energy support schemes being delivered by Government.
