THERE was splendid running from two of Portlaoise AC boys in the Laois Schools Cross Country Championships during the week.
In the Junior Boys race, the ever improving Dawid Wajrak stole the show with a stylish run to take first spot, while Daniel Downey also excelled to take second place.
Massive running from these two dedicated and modest young men. Next up is the South Leinsters which takes place next week in Carlow.
After his exploits midweek Daniel Downey continued his form into the weekend. A fantastic performance saw him become All Ireland U/15 Indoor Pentathlon Champion. Congratulations Dan.
BALLYROAN 5k and 10 Mile
Great to see the return of the Ballyroan races at the weekend where we had members in both events.
Rebecca Marshall took third spot in the 5k while Grace Meade also put in a fine performance.
In the 10 mile we had five representatives with Trevor Percy 1:00:10, Keith O’Shea 1:05:00, Patrick Marshall 1:05:14, Anna Duggan 1:17:32 and Maria Cuddy 1:19:24.
