
The late Amy Dunphy, RIP

PORTLAOISE Musical Society has paid a heartfelt tribute following the death of young mum Amy Dunphy, who appeared in numerous productions and whose family has been deeply involved with the group for many years.
From Marian Avenue in Portlaoise, Amy passed away unexpectedly at home on Thursday 2 February. She was predeceased by her infant child Jamie and partner TJ.
The Society is asking past and present members to form a guard of honour at Amy’s funeral this Monday, as they sadly say farewell to a very special and talented young woman.
The group said on its Facebook page today: “Portlaoise Musical Society is heartbroken to have learned of the unexpected death of Amy Dunphy.
“Amy has been onstage with the society for numerous shows, beginning at a young age with ‘Oliver’ and ‘Fiddler on the Roof’. Her most recent and final show with us was ‘Titanic’ in 2018. Her mam Sharon, who was our Chairperson for many years, sister Gemma and aunt Zeta have been stalwarts of the society since its outset.
“We send our deepest condolences to Sharon, Anthony, Gemma, Amy’s son Brody and all the Dunphy and O’Reilly families.
“Portlaoise Musical Society is calling on all our members (past and present) to help us form a Guard of Honour at Amy’s Funeral service this coming Monday.
“Please gather at the Dublin Road side of St. Peter & Paul’s Church at 12.45pm, immediately after the funeral mass.
“We ask all members to wear a musical hoody to celebrate Amy’s love of Musical Theatre. Rest in peace Amy.”

Amy is deeply regretted by her son Brody, her heartbroken parents Anthony and Sharon, her sister Gemma, brother-in-law Gary, niece Ava, nephew Noah, grandmother Teresa, aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and wide circle of friends.
She will repose at her residence on Sunday 5 February from 3pm, with Rosary at 8pm. Removal on Monday 6 February to arrive at Saint Peter and Paul’s Church, Portlaoise for noon mass which can be viewed on https://www.portlaoiseparish.ie/webcam/. Interment afterwards in Saint Peter and Paul’s Cemetery, Portlaoise.
