As the death toll continues to rise after two devastating earthquakes caused widespread destruction in Turkey and Syria and rescuers working against the clock to free people trapped under rubble the people of Laois are being asked to support an urgent appeal to assist those desperately working on the ground in the two countries.

The Laois Integration Network has organised a bake sale/collection for Saturday 11 February from 10am to 2pm in the Parish Centre in Portlaoise.

With sub-zero temperatures in the region winter clothes are being urgency sought such as coats/jackets/raincoats, boots, trousers, gloves, socks and underwear as well as tents, sleeping bags/blankets, and vacuum flasks. Also being sought is baby foods, nappies, hygiene products and sanitary pads.

Laois Integration Network will donate the items given on the day to the White Helmets Syria who are on the ground in Syria.

You can also drop in desperately needed items to Ozzy in the Turkish Barber at Railway Street, Portlaoise.
