A DRIVER was arrested and charged with dangerous driving after doing 177kph on wet roads in Laois today.

The Laois Roads Policing Unit was conducting a speed check on the M7 in wet weather this morning, when they recorded the car (pictured) travelling at 57kph above the motorway speed limit.

The driver was arrested for dangerous driving and charged to appear at an upcoming sitting of Portlaoise District Court.
