Laura makes her international debut

Laura Ayers who represented Ireland at the SIAB Cross Country over the weekend

LAURA Ayers made her international debut over the weekend when she competed for Ireland at the SIAB Cross Country Championships in Falkirk Scotland.

Laura finished ninth in the School’s Cross Country at the beginning of March gaining her selection for the Irish Junior team. She travelled as part of a large Irish group of over 40 athletes which left on Friday afternoon.

The Cross Country international has been an important stepping stone for many high-profile athletes over the years, in most cases offering athletes their first international experience. It combines athletes from Scotland, Ireland and England who have been to the fore of their school’s championships.

In the race itself Laura finished 14th overall in the Junior Girls race and was fifth Irish runner home helping the team to a second place finish.

This brings an end to a fantastic cross-country season for everyone within the cub.
