Gardaí seize abandoned Mercedes in Laois town centre

AN abandoned Mercedes that was causing a hazard in Rathdowney has been seized by local gardaí.
The battered car, whose front grille is held on with cable ties, was left in a parking space in the centre of town.
Gardaí said that the car will be destroyed if it is not claimed by an owner within three weeks.
The Mercedes was abandoned in a parking bay at The Square, where it was creating an obstruction.
Posting images on social media today, gardaí said that the Mercedes has heavy frontal damage and is not taxed or insured. It has no registration plates.
The car was impounded and was towed away to a holding lot by a recovery vehicle.
Laois gardaí said on 13 March: ‘If this vehicle is yours, please contact Rathdowney, Abbeyleix or Portlaoise Garda Stations within 21 days to reclaim, or it will be destroyed.’
