Laois based Embrace FARM nominated for national award

EMBRACE FARM has been shortlisted for the RDS Sustainability Awards in the Rural Social Impact Award
EMBRACE FARM, the Laois based farm support organisation has been shortlisted for a national award.
With its offices in Shanahoe, the organisation has been shortlisted for the RDS Sustainability Awards in the Rural Social Impact Award category.
The awards celebrate not for profit or voluntary rural groups and organisations that are promoting or supporting the sustainable economic and societal development of their local community.
Embrace FARM is a not for profit support network for farm families who have experienced a serious injury or sudden death.
Founded in 2014 by Brian and Norma Rohan after the tragic loss of Brian’s father, Liam, they recognised a need for both emotional and practical support for other farm families and now provide care and support to farm families, when and how they need it most.
The award ceremony will take place on Wednesday 9 April as part of the ‘Finding Common Ground’ festival in the RDS in Dublin.
The ‘Finding Common Ground’ festival takes place over two days and is being delivered as one of the RDS Foundation social impact programmes. It will bring together scientists, researchers, policymakers, industry professionals, practitioners, advocates and RDS Members to explore how Ireland can harness the benefits of our natural resources and the circular economy with a view to creating increased awareness, education and identification of solutions.
A series of talks and panel discussions will focus on the latest advancements and challenges in areas such as land use, forestry and the bioeconomy.
The broad programme will also explore topics such as decarbonising construction, how to use the arts to engage with environmental societal change and primary science education.
