Sign and road markings indicating presence of wheelchair users for Laois village

Road markings and a sign will be erected in the area indicating the presence of wheelchair users.
LAOIS County Council has been called on to carry out drainage works as a matter of urgency at Killeen to address surface water on the road verge arising from nearby springs.
The call was made at the recent Portlaoise Municipal District Council meeting by its cathaoirleach cllr Paddy Buggy, who said that once the priority work is complete the council should apply for funding to carry out further works in the location at a later date.
He also said that in the same location in Killeen, “there is a respite house run by the Muiriosa Foundation for which I’m asking for road markings and signage to calm traffic and make drivers aware of the presence of wheelchair users on the road.”
The council’s senior executive engineer Wes Wilkinson assured cathaoirleach Buggy that arrangements will be made “to carry out initial drainage works as a priority” and would seek funding for further draining works in the location.
Mr Wilkinson said that he would also arrange for road markings and a sign to be erected in the area indicating the presence of wheelchair users.
